Barge East is a 2 AA Rosette neighbourhood restaurant and award-winning garden venue aboard a historic Dutch barge. Proudly independent and sustainably focused, it’s one of London’s most distinctive dining destinations.We’re seeking an experienced General Manager with strong kitchen operations knowledge to oversee both our restaurant and outdoor spaces. The ideal candidate will bring proven leadership in food-led or AA Rosette-standard venues, a passion for hospitality, and solid commercial acumen.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and inspire teams across the restaurant and gardens, maintaining 2 AA Rosette-level standards.
Drive operational excellence and alignment with the Senior Leadership Team.
Oversee daily service to ensure smooth, efficient, and profitable operations.
Manage budgets, P&L, and labour targets, making data-driven decisions to protect standards and maximise growth.
Ensure full compliance with all HACCP, hygiene, and safety standards.
Support and develop your team through clear communication, structured training, and hands-on leadership.
Champion sustainability, local sourcing, and community initiatives central to Barge East’s ethos.
Be a visible leader during service, setting the tone for excellence.
About You
Proven experience as a General Manager in a food-led or AA Rosette-standard venue.
Strong understanding of kitchen operations and back-of-house management.
Comfortable overseeing both high-quality dining and high-volume outdoor service.
Commercially astute with strong financial acumen.
Inspiring, adaptable leader with a passion for hospitality, food, and people.
Organised, hands-on, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
