The AA Rosette award, first awarded in 1956, was the first nationwide scheme for assessing the quality of food served by restaurants and hotels.
Barge East has been recognised, for the first time, in the 2023 Awards with 2 Rosettes for ‘culinary excellence’.

Recognising and rewarding outstanding achievement in London-based venues and catering companies.
Barge East were delighted to win the London Venue Award for Best Catering at a London Venue award. Since mooring in Hackney Wick two and a half years ago our business has grown and developed into a fine dining restaurant with thanks to our Head Chef, Stefano Camplone, and one of the largest outdoor venues in East London adjacent.
First Mile Environmental & Recycle Award
We've been awarded the Silver Recycling Standard 2022 by First Mile! This means we did our bit for the planet and recycled at least 50% of waste in 2022, and sent nothing to landfill.
Venue Scanner 'Sustainable Venue' Award
One of the coolest venues we have on platform is Barge East. It’s also one of the most sustainable. From the 120 year old barge that uses ingredients grown in its own garden in their seasonal menus to the suppliers they use, Barge East is constantly making decisions to create an even more sustainable environment. They have a low waste and biodynamic policy and their boat side garden allows them to harvest produce smartly and intentionally (over 37 different types of plants). The whole thing is built from a variety of up-cycled and repurposed materials. They even compost their waste on-site. Barge East has reduced their use of plastic significantly and are even cling film free!
